It’s almost that time of year again: Valentine’s Day, or as some like to refer to it as, “lovers day”. Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite holiday, but for others it causes a bit of fear and/or dread. If you’re in a relationship it can be a holiday filled with much anxiety. What should you do to make the holiday special for your significant other? Here is a list of five ways to make a memorable Valentine’s Day.

5 Ways To Make A Memorable Valentine’s Day

  1. Try Something New
  2. On Valentine’s Day you and your significant other should be excited to be together and celebrate your love. Why not capitalize on that excitement by trying something new? Whether you go for something drastic like an extreme hobby such as skydiving or something smaller like trying sushi for the first time, trying something new is always a fun experience. Many couples find that when they try something new together for the first time they are brought even closer together.

  3. Create a Homemade Card or Gift
  4. Remember back in grade school when you used to make Valentine’s for your classmates? Just because you are older doesn’t mean you have to stop. Instead of making a special valentine for your grade-school crush, make one for your significant other. Women especially love home-made cards and gifts as they are more special and thoughtful than a store-brought gift or the traditional flowers. One great suggestion is to make a collage of photos, movie stubs, and other little trinkets you may have kept throughout the duration of your relationship.

  5.  Reflect On Your Relationship
  6. Valentine’s Day is all about love. Take time to reflect on the time you and your significant other have been together. Think of all of the great memories you have together and make plans for new things you want to experience together. These can be big things such as travelling together or even a smaller adventure such as trying a new food together. You can even create your own couples’ bucket list.

  7.  Surprise Each Other
  8. Love often comes unexpectedly and takes people by surprise. Have fun with the themes of love and surprise on Valentine’s Day. There are many ways to surprise each other on Valentine’s Day such as surprise gifts, breakfast and bed, fun outings, and more. Some couples like to create scavenger hunts leading to surprise gifts filled with clues that are connected to various events from your relationship. Get creative!

  9.  Dress For The Occasion
  10. Remember how much fun you had dressing up for Prom and homecoming dances? High school may be over, but it doesn’t mean you can’t dress up for a night out still! Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for it. Women can wear a sexy dress and men can opt for a nice shirt and tie. For more fun wear Valentine’s Day colors such as red, pink, and purple.
