Few things are more flattering that a bright and healthy glow. It can take years off your appearance! Unfortunately, today’s busy lifestyles can drain your skin of its natural glow and leave it dull, dehydrated and tired-looking.

Luckily, there are numerous ways in which you can achieve gorgeous, glowing skin simply by following these 5 skincare regime and lifestyle tips!

1. Exfoliate the skin

Exfoliation is absolutely vital for achieving bright, healthy looking skin and should be in your skincare regime at the very minimum once a week – twice is better, or three times a week if you suffer from oily skin.

Exfoliating removes dead cells from the skin’s surface to leave it feeling soft, smooth and radiant, and looking instantly brighter.

Pick an exfoliator will very small particles, such as jojoba beads – harsh scrubs can irritate the skin and lead to a red, splotchy complexion, not the look you’re going for! You should barely be able to feel the particles when you apply it.

Wet your face and body with warm water, and then apply an exfoliator or exfoliating cleanser. Gently rub it into the skin using circular movements – you can use your hands, exfoliating gloves or a sponge to do this.

You’ll get rid of rough skin, for a smoother, softer feel, and any dull patches will gently be brightened and evened out, as well as an overall brightening effect!

 2. Moisturise the skin

Dehydrated skin is dull, full stop! If you want to have bright skin it must be well hydrated with a good quality moisturiser that is applied regularly – twice a day is ideal, or more often if you are out in the skin, swimming or your skin just feels dry.

In fact, there’s no such thing as too much moisturiser! Just be sure to use one for your particular skin type, as an oily moisturiser can aggravate oily skin, and a moisturiser designed to treat acne can dry out dry skin even further.

3. Use skin brightening masks

Skin brightening masks can greatly help to brighten your complexion as they can help to fade imperfections and discolouration.

Lemon juice is an excellent natural skin brighter so why not make your own homemade mask using yogurt, lemon juice, tomato juice and cucumber? Mix these ingredients together to form a paste, apply a thick layer to your skin and then sit back and relax for about 20 minutes whilst it works its magic! Lemon juice is very drying though so only use the juice from a quarter of a lemon, and moisturise straight afterwards.

Fruit enzyme products are also great for skin brightening – these natural fruit derivatives gently brighten the skin without the need for chemicals or bleach!

 4. Massage the skin

Massage your skin daily to improve circulation – when blood flows freely to the skin’s surface it can help to brighten your skin tone for a radiant glow, as nutrients are brought to each and every skin cell quickly and impurities are carried away too.

Facial massages will also help to tighten muscles and tissue which will encourage a healthy and rejuvenated complexion. Why not give yourself a daily massage when you apply your moisturiser?

5. Drink lots of water

Drinking water can greatly help to brighten your skin as it will ensure your skin is hydrated and nourished – as I mentioned, dehydrated skin will always look dull and if your body’s dehydrated, your skin will be too! Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day, or approximately 2 litres, and drink more if it’s particularly hot or dry.
