When you are someone who is invested in getting fit, you’ll find that a home gym makes sense for a number of different reasons. You can work out on your own schedule, and you never have to wait in line for the more popular machines! However, if you want to put together a home gym that really works for you, consider how you should equip it. Every piece of equipment that you put in costs money, so how can you make the most out of your home gym budget?

Kettleball
A kettleball is simply a very heavy ball with a handle on the top. This type of exercise equipment comes in many different weights, and you will find that choosing one will greatly enhance your workout. One of the reasons why you should choose a kettleball is that despite its size, it can give you a full body workout. A dumbell set only works your arms, while using a kettleball encourages you to tone your entire body. Because the weight in a kettleball is unevenly distributed, you’ll find that it encourages you to use your core strength to handle it.

Jump Rope
When you are looking to make sure that you can get enough cardiovascular exercise done in your at-home gym, consider keeping a jump rope around. You need surprisingly little clearance to use a jump rope, and even a professional-quality jump rope is not terribly expensive. Find a jump rope that is appropriate to your height and make sure that you use it regularly.

Resistance Bands
Resistance bands allow you to have many of the benefits you would receive from having a weight machine. They cost significantly less than a weight machine and they take up significantly less space. For example, a resistance band allows you to work your arm muscles, and depending on the fittings, it can also allow you to work your core muscles. If you want a more intense workout, look for resistance bands that can be anchored in the door. These bands allow you to throw your weight against a door rather than yourself.

Power Plate
A power plate is a piece of equipment that allows you to run through several different types of exercise all at the same time. Power plates are a fantastic choice for a home gym that is on the small size as it offers plenty of different exercise options in one package.

Yoga Mat
A yoga mat might seem like a strange indulgence if you don’t use yoga, but think about the floor at many gyms. While there are plenty of gyms that have wood floors, more and more gyms are choosing flooring that has a bit of padding. If you are planning to do a lot of work on the ground, you’ll find that a yoga mat can help make things more comfortable. Even standard push-ups and sit-ups can become a lot more comfortable when there is a mat between you and the hard flooring.

Take a moment and consider what fitness equipment you are going to choose for your home gym!
