Planning for a stress-free move while moving house?

Moving into a new house offers a fresh start and new opportunities. However, the move itself can be stressful. You’ll want to cut the stress by approaching the task with an organized plan.

Moving House: 7 Top Tips For A Stress-Free Move

Feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff to move? Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! Here are our top 7 tips for a stress-free move!

  1. Declutter First

Decluttering before anything else is a good way to size up how much you’ll be moving with you. This can save you money when hiring a removals company since you’ve separated the things you need. For things you no longer need, you can opt to donate or sell.

  1. Make a Plan for Your Things

Aside from making a general to-do list and calendar for the move, have a plan for your things as well. Catalog everything you need to pack and add labels to the boxes. This gives you a convenient checklist of your stuff and which boxes they’re in.

After the checklist, plan where you or the removals company should place them. This can be in the form of a floorplan.

  1. Choose a Removals Firm Early

It can be hard to book the date of your preference. Depending on where you’ll be moving, it’s best to pick a removals company and book a date in advance.

Accomplishing this can save you the worry and buy you extra time for any problems that might arise. You may consider hiring professionals such as Moving Ahead Services.

  1. Color Code Your Plan

Try color-coding your plan to make moving more efficient. Color code the items or packaging and do the same to your marked floorplan.

Color-coding is effective because humans can process visual data faster than text. Give the removals company a copy so you won’t have to tell them where each item should be.

  1. Prepare the New House Before You Move

If you already have access to the new house, you’ll want to do some cleaning before moving house. Cleaning ahead of time will save you from unexpected dirt on moving day.

  1. Keep Essential Stuff With You

To avoid having to scour the boxes for things you need on moving day, keep them with you instead. Take personal items, valuables, and paperwork and pack them within quick reach. Pack toiletries, kitchen essentials or snacks, and some clothes for easy access too.

  1. Make an Unpacking Priority List

It’s best to unpack the essentials first before your porcelain collection. Make a list of these essentials and work your way from there.

You’ll want to start with the big stuff like furniture, then make sure that the essentials are in the right rooms. Open the boxes for the most used rooms first, such as the kitchen, bathroom, etc.

Start Moving House Without the Stress

Moving house can be a hassle. This doesn’t mean that you should suffer avoidable stress. If you plan early and make sure that the process is systematic, then you’re good to go.

  1. You made a great point about cleaning the house ahead of time and how it can save you a lot of stress during the move. One of the things my wife hates the most is last-minute preparations, and I can easily see us doing this with a new house that might have been dirtied up over the past few weeks. I’ll stop over the new house first and give it a deep cleaning before getting a moving company to help us transport our stuff.
