If you are a movie lover, then you are in for a real treat this summer. There are some very exciting new releases on the horizon, and it looks like this summer, theaters will be the go-to place to cool off. Will you be in the theater when summer 2013’s hottest movies come out?

Iron Man 3. If you enjoy the distinctive charm of Robert Downey Junior’s Iron Man character, then you should be pleased to know that he’s back this summer, and with a few friends. Expect big time special effects, a cast of all-star characters (yes, Paltrow and Freeman will be revisiting their roles, too), a little bit of humor, and a lot of action. Iron Man 3 is coming in early May.

Ninja Turtles. Our favorite crime fighting amphibians are no longer teenagers. Heck, they’re no longer turtles, either. Mega producer Michael Bay is coming forward with a completely new, and totally unique, spin on the old TMNT story, and bringing big names like Megan Fox and Will Arnett with him. Can you remember all the ninja turtles names? Look for this likely box office smash in a theater near you in June.

The Great Gatsby. This remake is sure to put a new spin on the old American classic tale of the big life–big dreams, as well as big losses. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role, Tobey MacGuire as the story’s narrator Nick Carraway, and Carey Mulligan as Daisy, and directed by Baz Lurhmann (of Moulin Rouge fame), this reprise of The Great Gatsby is sure to have some surprises in store for us, and some striking visuals, to boot. Expect this film to hit the big screen in mid May.

The Hangover Part III. While there is not wedding or bachelor party this time around, there is plenty of fun, bad decision making, and hilarious hijinks to leave Hangover fans everywhere wondering how they went so long without a revisit. Part III is coming in late May.

Star Trek Into the Darkness. This sequel is being touted as a step above its predecessors. Directed by J.J. Abrams has taken some liberties to go a little deeper thematically and emotionally, as well as to move away from what might only appeal to die hard Trekkies, in order to present yet another installment of the Star Trek story in way that every type of audience member can enjoy–Star Trek fan or not. Into the Darkness is slotted to show in theaters in late May.

There is no shortage of great films to watch this summer, no matter what your genre of preference is. Summer is right around the corner, and you can definitely plan on beating the heat in your local theater.
