La Mirada Golf Course is an 18 hole course that opened for play in 1970. This William Bell designed layout features bent grass and poa annua greens. Measuring a little over 6000 yards, La Mirada is a great place to enjoy a casual round. The par 70 course is unusual in that it has four par fives. Par 70 layouts usually have two. Consequently, the number of par threes is also increased to six.
The result is a course on which a good score is a real possibility if you score on the par fives. The 12th hole measures 551 yards and it is rated the second toughest hole on the course. Your better birdie opportunities are on the other par fives: holes four, seven, and sixteen. They all measure between 484 and 515 yards. If you’re hitting your irons well, those numerous par threes might help your score as well. All of the par threes are medium to long holes. The front nine concludes with a 199 yard par three.
If you are looking for La Mirada California tee times, consider an early morning round if you can for a good pace of play. The overall pace compared to that of other La Mirada California golf courses is decent though considering it is a public county course.
The course plays to a slope of 117 for both men and women. The course includes a good variety of holes. Local knowledge can be a plus. For instance, knowing when to cut the corner on your drive. Don’t end up short on number eleven and don’t go long on the 13th. The mature weeping willows and the water add to the beauty of the course. The smallish, well-bunkered greens require accurate irons or a good short game. Some holes require blind shots into the greens. Once you play a round or two here you’ll be better prepared for such shots.
Practice well into the evening at the lighted driving range that has a two-tiered hitting area. Mats are standard, but for a slight extra charge you can hit off of grass. Like most park system golf facilities in the county, La Mirada offers banquet facilities for weddings and other special events.
Golfers are often complimentary about the staff. The course is located in a residential area. The result is a fairly peaceful and serene setting for a round of golf. It is worth considering this course when you are looking for La Mirada California tee times.
